THOSE fashion world whisperers were right: Vivienne Westwood has confirmed that glamour model Pamela Anderson, who stole the show at her spring/summer 2009 Red Label catwalk showcase in a gold lurex dress, will be the face of her new campaign.

Moreover, Westwood herself, plus husband Andreas Kronthaler, are to appear in the images, which were shot in and around Anderson’s Malibu trailer by seasons-long Westwood collaborator Juergen Teller. Pieces from all of the designers collections - among them Gold, Red, Anglomania and MAN, as well as accessories - will be showcased with the kind of tongue-in-cheek humour for which Dame Vivienne is lauded.

“At a meeting backstage after the [Red Label] show, Vivienne thought Pamela looked stunning in her clothes,” Westwood’s press office explains of the quirky pairing. “When thinking of casting her next campaign, she immediately thought of Pamela and called her to ask if she would be interested. Pamela agreed on the spot.”

The campaign photographs, which will debut in the February 2008 editions of magazines worldwide, will also be published as a coffee-table book by Steidl.
