  I’m thrilled to see all the buzz about Senator Harry Reid’s new book, “The Good Fight.” Of all the leaders I met in Washington last month with Dan Mathews from PETA, Senator Reid was the most sincere, easygoing and obviously compassionate ­ thank god he’s the majority leader. I met both him and his beautiful wife Landra at a restaurant before Dan and I carried on to the White House Correspondent’s Dinner. My BS-o-meter didn’t flicker once around Harry Reid ­ and it usually goes crazy around politicians, not to mention in Hollywood.

  Happy Mothers Day!!!!! It’s a thankless job. That’s not why we do it- But today every mom should be thanked and spoiled and treated kindly- we love our children for no reward, not for flowers or cards. No superficial reasons- even more reason to be good to mom! Smile - happy kids are all we want.

  For years now, the horse racing industry has systematically ignored efforts by the animal protection community and its own disgusted insiders, including some veterinarians who aren’t afraid where their bread is “buttered,� to make life more tolerable for the horses it profits from. Given this weekend’s horror at the Kentucky Derby, we’re hoping that the members of the Kentucky Horse Racing Authority and others within the industry will now be forced to take these issues seriously. If they don’t care about the suffering of these animals, perhaps their PR people will give them a reason to care.
